Folder Scout 1.3.2 contains important updates to improve previous version 1.3.1
Fixed issue with mobile phones connection through USB. In some cases, when a mobile phone was connected using USB port, an error message 'Drive not ready. Abort, Retry, Cancel' was shown if mobile usb drives were not mounted and ready to be accesed.
Minor fixes and changes. Version 1.3.2 also includes minor fixes and changes.

New pricing. We have updated our pricing. Folder Scout Standard Edition now costs 14,95$ (before 19,95$) and Folder Scout Professional Edition now costs 19,95$ (before 29,95$).
Fixed issue with Sony memory sticks. Fixed issue with Sony Memory Sticks cards with file system other than FAT. Now the issue is solved and Folder Scout can work with any file sytem (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, exFAT, etc).
Minor fixes and changes. Version 1.3.1 also includes minor fixes to known bugs and issues found in previous releases.

Folder Scout 1.3 includes new features and solves some issues found in version 1.2.0
Full compatibility with Windows 7 - 32 bits and 64 bits Editions. Folder Scout is now fully compatible with Windows 7 family. Both 32 bits and 64 Bits Edition are supported.
Added new Shared Catalogs Engine for LAN/WAN environments. Folder Scout version 1.3 includes a completely new architecture that dramatically improves performace on networked environments like Offices, Company Branches, Corporative WANs, etc. This new architecture is based on the fact that one PC (Server PC) shares its Folder Catalogs with other PCs (Clients PCs) in the LAN/WAN. That is what we call Server Shared Catalogs or more simply, from a Client PC point of view, Remote Catalogs.
Added Search Keyword Highlight in results list. This new feature shows search keywords highlighted in the folder search result list. This provides a visual aid to identify folder we are looking for more easily. This option can be configured by user under Applications Preferences.
New Restart function. Folder Scout can now be restarted in a single click. It can be used to refresh LAN settings and network drives availability, for example, when changing from office to home.
Improved Graphic User Interface. Folder Scout includes some changes related to GUI, including new Vista and Windows 7 icons for Drives, Folders, etc.
New color skin 'Silver Scout'. A new color scheme has been added, as suggested by many users, resulting in better color contrast and more "Windows like" style. The new skin is named 'Silver Scout' and offers a clean white background for an easier text reading.
New Welcome window. A new Welcome window has been added to give basic information to new users, including tips about F7 Hotkey and direct links to Help and Tips. This option can be configured by user under Applications Preferences.
Minor fixes and changes. Version 1.3.0 also includes minor fixes to known bugs and issues found in previous releases.

Folder Scout 1.2 includes new features and solves some issues found in version 1.1.1
Drive Panel (Root Folder Quick Jump) can now be collapsed to free space on results area. Drives Panel can be collapsed/expanded, resulting in more space for Disk Tree and Find Folder results.
Auto-Hide feature after jump to folder can now be configured. Folder Scout Auto-Hide feature when Exploring, Opening or Searching can now be enabled/disabled by the user under application preferences menu.
Added keyboard shortcuts (ALT + Key) for all the contextual menu commands. This new feature assigns an ALT + Key combination to every contextual menu allowing quick access to any command keeping 'hands on the keyboard'.
Added Export Wizard: Data and Results can now be exported to standard format files. Folder Scout allows now to export in .TXT (Notepad and others) and CSV (Comma Separated Values - Excel and others) format the list of Find Folder Results,
Favorites, Recent Folders and Recent Docs for later use with third party applications.
Added AND (:) and EXACT ("") folder search operators. This new feature allows progressive filtering of results using several words separated by colons or quotation marks to identify a concrete folder. For Example: "Microsoft":NET
Added configurable Recent Documents Maintenance Wizard alert level. The Recent Docs maintenace wizard alert level can now be configured by the user, setting the max number of recents documents to be stored. Once the configured level is reached, the maintenance wizard is displayed to the users, allowing them to clean Recent Docs history automatically or manually.
Added option to catalog folders with 'system' attribute. Folders with Windows 'system' attribute are now also cataloged. This feature allows advanced users to also find system folders. This feature is disabled by default, together with Windows 'hidden' attribute folders.
Minor fixes and changes. Version 1.2.0 also includes minor fixes to known bugs and issues found in previous releases.

Folder Scout 1.1.1 includes new features and solves some issues found in version 1.1.0
Added new Recent Documents Maintenance Wizard: A new control module and dialog has been added to check Window's Recents Documents history size. When Recents Documents history becomes relatively large (limit is set for 500 Recent Documents), a Maintenace Wizard is displayed to the users, allowing them to clean Recent Docs history automatically or manually.
Added support to catalog UNIX NAS Devices: Previous versions of Folder Scout displayed an error while cataloging UNIX Network Attached Storage devices. Now fixed and included in Folder Scout v.1.1.1.
Fixed Windows XP SP2 Shut Down blocking : Some v1.1.0 users experienced problems with Windows XP Shut Down process. Under certain circumstances some computers
could refuse to initiate Windows Shut Down process when users try to shutdown their computer, restart computer
or close session. To workaround this problem, users needed to close Folder Scout before closing or exiting Windows. The bug is now fixed and included in Folder Scout v.1.1.1.
Fixed issue with Hot Key (F7): There was a known bug with hot key If Folder Scout was not minimized/hidden while changing to another application, user have to press F7 twice to bring Folder Scout back to foreground. Now fixed and included in Folder Scout v.1.1.1.

Folder Scout 1.1 includes new features and solves some issues found in version 1.0
Added new Toolbar for common tasks: Folder Scout 1.1 includes a new toolbar that allows quick access to most frecuently used commands like Add/Refresh drive catalog, Remove drive catalog
and Application preferences. Help Topics and Tips & Tricks tutorial can also be accesed from the new toolbar.
Added 'Whole word only' filter in Find Folder : A new 'Whole word only' filter checkbox has been added to perform more selective searches. When the checkbox is activated, the search string typed in the Find Folder Box should appear complete and alone in a certain folder name to include it as a matching result. This reduces the number of results, making easier to locate a certain folder.
Added Tips & Tricks tutorial: A new Help-like tutorial has been added with useful Tips & Tricks to get the most of Folder Scout. The Tips & Trick tutorial can be quickly accessed from the toolbar.
Added user customizable File Search app: This new feature allows the user to customize the File search application that will be invoked when Search command is issued from any of the search buttons or contextual menus. By default, Microsoft Windows® internal search application is used.
Added 'Run maximized' feature for external apps: Under Application Preferences, the user can determine the way externals applications appear when launched from Folder Scout. It is possible to select between Normal or Maximized window. This applies to File Browser app, File Search app and Command Shell.
Minor fixes and changes: Version 1.1 includes minor fixes to known bugs and issues found in previous releases, making this new release more stable than ever. |

Folder Scout 1.0.0 Build 209 is the final release from previous Beta editions. It includes new features and solves some issues found in Build 208.
Standard and Professional Editions: Folder Scout is available in two different editions. Both versions support the same basic features. Professional edition additionally supports Network Drives catalog, allowing fast folder search also in this type of drives. Oriented to bussiness with multiple net drives or multiple servers.
30-day Free Trial: The Evaluation Version of Folder Scout is an unlicensed "try before you buy" version distributed at no charge. The evaluation version is fully functional like Professional Edition for thirty days. All of the features work in the ways described.
Fixed bug with Disk Tree catalog load: There was a known bug at Disk Tree that made Folder Scout to load unavailable/off-line drives catalog.
Fixed bug with drive catalog add or remove: There was a known bug in Catalog Add/Refresh or Catalog Remove where some incoherences occurred. For catalog Add/Refresh, unavailable net drives where shown. For catalog Remove, an error message was shown when trying to delete any unavailable drive (Fixed, CD/DVD, Removable or Network Drive)
Fixed bug when accesing Windows Registry: There was a known bug when trying to read/write Windows registry for users with insufficient privileges. |

Folder Scout 1.0 Beta 2 Build 208 |
Build 208 includes new features and solves some issues found in Build 207.
Network mapped drives support : Current release now supports cataloging of multiple network mapped drives. Oriented to bussiness with multiple network drives or multiple servers, this feature extends the range of drive types supported by Folder Scout to all drive types: Fixed, Removable, CD/DVD and Network drives. This feature will be available only in future Professional Edition.
Improved Search Engine: New folder search engine is now ten times faster. Folder Scout search engine has been completely rewritten to support big volume of folders, usually found on network drives. Previous version (Build 207) handled easily up to aprox. 50.000 folders, with about one second average search time. Current release has an average search time below
one second for aprox. 500.000 folders.
New Drive Type Search Filter Toolbar : A new drive type filter toolbar has been added to filter search results by drive types: Fixed, Removable and Network drives. This allows easier handling of search results.
Fixed bug with removable drives: There was a known bug when extracting a removable drive immediately after uncataloging it. Folder Scout displayed the message 'Could not Delete Volume from Disk Tree'. |

Folder Scout 1.0 Beta 2 Build 207 |
Build 207 improves some issues and known bugs detected in Build 206.
Improved Install and Uninstall: Folder Scout can now be installed and uninstalled without taking care if the main executable (FolderScout.Exe) was running or not. In previous versions user must manually close and exit Folder Scout before installing or uninstalling. In case Folder Scout was not stopped manually, installation didn't work and the application continues running on each Windows restart.
Fixed bug at Windows shutdown or session close: There was a known bug with Windows 2000 operating systems (and under certain circumstances also on XP systems) that stops Windows close or shutdown process if Folder Scout was running. To workaround this problem, users of previous versions needed to close Folder Scout before closing or exiting Windows.
Fixed bug in high resolution screen configuration: There was a known bug with systems configured with 1280 x 1024 screen resolution. On such systems, Folder Scout only expanded up to 1024 x 1024.
Fixed issue with Hot Key (by default F7): There was a known issue when pressing Hot Key (by default F7) during Folder Scout start-up sequence. If the user pressed F7 before Folder Scout finished its internal start-up sequence, the main screen shows and then hides quickly, making it necessary to press F7 again to bring the application to the foreground.
Fixed issue with splash screen: There was a known issue on some systems with the splash screen (the banner displayed while Folder Scout is loading) that made the splash screen to appear during several seconds before hidding. On Build 207 , this time is strictly adjusted to aprox. one second. |
